In September 1990,Shashi Kapoor stated " Ajooba needs to become a big hit for me. I have nothing to fall back upon. No brewery or rich parents tucked away somewhere. Not even a cinema hall in my name anywhere. I have a theatre,Prithvi, but even that is not in my name. It is owned by a trust. People are right and honest when they say Shashi Kapoor is in the red. But i will be out of the red, once Ajooba releases. Everyone will hopefully enjoy and love the film. It has all the ingredients needed ".
