The film marks the fifth collaboration between David Fincher and composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross following Nine Inch Nails: Only (2005), The Social Network (2010), Millennium - Uomini che odiano le donne (2011), and L'amore bugiardo - Gone Girl (2014). Unlike Reznor and Ross's previous synthesizer-reliant ambient music scores, the score for Mank (2020) used only period-authentic instruments in order to properly reflect the time period of the film.
