Apart from the difference in parents' circumstances, this is essentially the same plot as Vivere in fuga (1988). In both films, the parents struggle with letting go their teenage child and have a life of their own. Both teens are gifted musicians, and both audition to get into a prestigious music school. At the end of the films, both sets of parents finally come to the same decision.
