Initially 10 to 12 different episodic storylines were planned for the movie, but eight remained on the final version. Director Aku Louhimies also revealed that his short film Late Fragments (2008) was originally a part of the story in "Vuosaari". "Late Fragments" was included in the Finnish DVD/Blu-ray release of "Vuosaari".
