One major change originally made for this movie (and apparently the only one not originating from Douglas Adams' notes) was that Trillian was to have been revealed as being only half-human. This plot point was referenced in pre-release publicity, including the movie tie-in reissue of the original novel, cast and director interviews, and the official "making of" book. Before release, however, this plot point was deleted from the final cut.
