The villains repeatedly threaten the heroes with murder of their associates: 1) Thanos threatens to kill Thor if Loki does not hand over the tesseract (Space Stone). 2) The Black Order offer to spare Scarlet Witch if The Vision surrenders and gives up the Mind Stone. 3) Thanos tortures and threatens to kill Nebula if Gamora does not reveal the location of the Soul Stone. 4) As recounted by Eitri, he was forced to forge the Infinity Gauntlet by Thanos under the threat of having his fellow dwarves murdered. 5) Although not explicitly asked to do so by Thanos, Doctor Strange gives up the Time Stone in exchange for Tony Stark's life.
