The film received mostly positive responses by Roman Catholic Church officials. Archbishop Charles Scicluna, the Vatican's former chief prosecutor of clerical sex abuse cases, told the Italian publication La Repubblica that "All bishops and cardinals must see this film." Bishop Robert Barron of Los Angeles called the film "very sober, very understated" and said it was "worth looking at that time again."
