During the final battle scene between Fury and the German soldiers you see many times the German soldiers climbing onto the tank, as well as an American soldier at the end of the movie after the battle, and freely opening the hatches. Highly doubtful this would have happened because all Sherman tank hatches can be locked from the inside to prevent just such a thing from happening and the crew of Fury certainly would have locked themselves into their tank before engaging the Germans
