Japnese director Akira Kurosawa was so irritated by Sergio Leone's refusal to admit that the film was a remake of his Yojimbo that he sent Leone a letter 'Signor I have seen your film. It is a fine film but it is my film. Leone had to grant him distribution rights in Japan as compensation.
