The series became controversial like many HBO Originals including "Il trono di spade (2011)", "Girls (2012)", "Westworld - Dove tutto è concesso (2016)", and "Big Little Lies - Piccole grandi bugie (2017)", due to excessive sexual content and substance use. The Parents Television and Media Council and Common Sense Media criticized the series. A viewer discretion warning is included along with Zendaya warning viewers about it's content.
