It was Pablo Larraín's idea to incorporate the John F. Kennedy-hosted A Tour of the White House (1962) into the narrative, which was premiere broadcast on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1962, and seen by over fifty-six million viewers. Taking unprecedented advantage of television's new Golden Age, Jackie had invited America, and the world into the newly renovated White House in a way that was both public and personal, and in a way that seemed to form a bookend with her more somber public appearances after the death of her husband.
