August brings a pizza with him when Arthur takes him to the old theater to meet Wizard. This is likely a reference to a similar scene in the animated film Oliver & Company (1988), also inspired by the Dickens' novel Oliver Twist, when Dodger brings Oliver to meet everyone and brings hot dogs with him for the dogs.
