Elmore Leonard visited the production during the filming of the scene where Chili and Karen visit Martin Weir. Barry Sonnenfeld was paranoid, worried, and thinking "what would Elmore do?" Other visitors while filming in Beverly Hills included Gabriel Byrne, Tom Laughlin, and numerous agents.
