Both Tom Arnold and Julianne Phillips were very noteworthy at the time of the film's release for their divorces from two very popular entertainers: Phillips was married to Bruce Springsteen and divorced him in 1989 while Arnold had been previously married to Roseanne Barr and divorced her in 1994. Although Rick Moranis actually plays a divorced dad in this film ironically in real life, he was never divorced but his wife passed away from cancer in 1991.
