A few of the actors in School Daze (1988) have a strong connection with Tina Turner. Laurence Fishburne would go on to portray Tina's ex-husband/abuser Ike Turner in Tina - What's Love Got to Do with It (1993). Twins Sharon Owens and Karen Owens, who are extras in this film, would later tour with Turner as backup dancers/singers for the same tour affiliated with Tina - What's Love Got to Do with It (1993), and also toured with her on her "Wildest Dreams" tour in 1997-98. Branford Marsalis played a saxophone solo on Turner's single "Paradise is Here" from her 1986 album "Break Every Rule".
