Megatron was originally going to have a streamlined helmet design based on his classic bucket-head look from Transformers (1984). However, the filmmakers decided it wasn't menacing enough, and passed the head design to Starscream, and gave Megatron a more jagged and crowned design. The helmet design would later evolve into Megatron's design for Transformers - L'ultimo cavaliere (2017).
