Dr. Asthana's laughing as a means to control his anger is similar to Herbert Lom's character Chief Inspector Dreyfus' habit of getting hysterical laughs imagining the death of Inspector Closeau, portrayed by Peter Sellers, in most films of THE PINK PANTHER franchise. Ironically, both Dr. Asthana and Chief Inspector Dreyfus end up as the butt of jokes of their respective nemesises.
