Screenwriter David S. Goyer mentioned in an interview that his favorite pre-audition choice for Batman was Jake Gyllenhaal, but that he was won over by Christian Bale after seeing his test. Jake's sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal was later cast in Il cavaliere oscuro (2008).
