All three of the numbers shown on the computer have real New York area codes. 212 was one of the original 86 area codes designated by AT&T in 1947. Because it is such a densely populated area, it was awarded the area code that required the fewest number of clicks to dial on a rotary phone. (The next lowest are 213, which went to Los Angeles, and 312, which went to Chicago.)
