Ares in this film is based on the villainous god of war in the DC Comics, but is also based on the First Born, a resentful son of Zeus who was cast out and seeks to destroy everything.Ares also incorporates traits from his daughter Eris (the god of strife and chaos), the First Born (a resentful son of Zeus who was cast out and seeks to destroy everything), and his subordinates, a trio of aristocrats who manipulate people into waging war (the Duke of Deception, the Earl of Greed and the Count of Conquest).
