Ahead of its time depicting openly gay men, especially "sophisticated villain" (as Otley describes him) Freddie Jones. Also, Ronald Lacey, as the younger of two henchman, is seen softly rubbing his male partner's cheek inside their car. And assassin Leonard Rossiter makes a kissing sound on the phone to Jones's character, who had hired him. Even though these are antagonists, they can also be charming and likable, especially Jones.
