While preparing for the role Randeep Hooda met Dalbir Kaur sister of Sarbjit and both developed a bond between them.During release of the film Dalbir Kaur told Randeep Hooda that she sees her brother Sarbjit in him and when she passes away he should perform her final rites.Six years after the film's release Dalbir Kaur passed away of heart attack on 25th June 2022 and Randeep Hooda kept his promise by performing her final rites by giving her shoulder (Khanda).
