When asked for why it was so difficult deciding where to put the camera during driving scenes and sex scenes, David Cronenberg stated "there are probably no more photographed things in movies than sex and cars you know that you're not going to come up with a way of looking at it that's totally unique in one shot that's never been done before by anyone so it's a matter of accumulation."
