Two songs used as background scores in Seasons 2 and 3, the songs being titled "Velvet and Veil" and "Bitter Lies", have been credited to a band called Girth (sometimes spelled Garth) from the 1980's. These songs are not publicly or commercially available. This was the only instance where CBS, the company that produced Cold Case, used songs obscure to mainstream American pop culture for setting the scene; the two songs, featured in "Family" and "Bad Night", were most likely obtained from a private music library selling songs for commercial television production usage. In 2020, users of the song locator website Watzatsong attempted to locate the two songs credited to a band called Girth, and were unable to find either of them.
