In the novel, there are heavy gay subtexts surrounding the relationship between Lestat and Louis. In the film, despite those subtexts being generally absent, the relationship between Lestat and Louis is more subtle and intimate. In AMC's Interview with the Vampire (2022) show, the relationship between Lestat and Louis is more palpable and passionate.
