It is hinted towards the end of the film that Emma (Olivia Cooke) too develops NIA symptoms after showing signs, evident in the final scene of the film in which Emma and Jude (Jack O'Connell) 'meet' again for the first time after having both finally forgotten each other, Emma more rapidly than Jude. This also reflects how Emma states to Jude throughout the film "I was so sad the day I met you. I don't remember why. But I do remember that when I saw you, I wasn't sad anymore", therefore perhaps suggesting the story of the two characters is a continuous cycle.
