The plane received as a "gift" at the end of the film is a soviet made utility/agricultural Antonov AN-2 designed and manufactured by the Antonov Design Bureau since 1946. Various versions are still in use in the ex-U.S.S.R., and in the eastern bloc countries. It is the same type aircraft utilized by Mutt and Indiana Jones in the "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" when flying to Nazca, Peru, and quite possibly the explanation for Barney Ross' comment, "That thing belongs in a museum".
