When Killian talks with Tony after his capture he mentions Thor and in a deleted scene Savin in Iron Patriot's armor distracts a reporter that's asking him a lot of questions on Air Force One by pointing out the window and saying, "Hey, look, it's Thor!" All the Thor references may have been a nod to the fact that Thor: The Dark World (2013) was the next movie in the MCU.
