This film is often cited as a raunchy version of Un tocco di classe (1973). Director Norman Panama had previously been nominated three times for an Oscar as a writer, each time as a collaborator with Melvin Frank. Melvin Frank, on his own and without his frequent collaborator Panama, produced "A Touch of Class".
