In September 2021, a spin-off series based on Colin Farrell's Penguin was announced to be in development for HBO Max, which was later ordered as a limited series. Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark are executive producers of the show. In December 2021, Farrell reprised his role and also served as executive producer. The miniseries focuses on Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin's rise in the criminal underworld.
