Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert highlighted this movie on a special 1981 episode of Sneak Previews (1975) featuring "Guilty Pleasures" (movies they're embarrassed to admit they like). Roger loved its "goofiness" and its "energy." Siskel didn't like it as much; but when they showed a clip from the Old Chicago amusement park massacre scene, Siskel had to admit the scene was "very well shot" and acknowledged parts of the movie "had great artistry."
