Ryan Jamaal Swain left the show because he suffered a personal tragedy. In July 2020, there were reports that Swain's sister, Raven Lynette Swain, was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 24. When production resumed post-COVID hiatus early on season 3, the character of Damon had been written off the series.
