An uncredited Hugh O'Brian is killed in a road accident near the beginning. As an Army Air Force Major, his character would have been close to Hugh O'Brian's actual age of 40. Seven years later, Brandon De Wilde was killed in a road accident at age 30. O'Brian outlived nearly all of the main-credited cast, passing away at age 91 in 2016. Kirk Douglas, who passed away in February 2020 at age 103 outlived him. As of March 2020, only Paula Prentiss (Bev) and James Mitchum (Ensign Griggs) are still alive.
