Originally, instead of collecting garbage, Val and Earl were supposed to be digging a ditch for Nestor, which is why Earl brings up having to work for Nestor that day, and are dismayed to learn Nestor can't pay them yet. This scene was filmed, as a brief snippet of it is featured in the Arrow Blu-Ray's bloopers.
