After the film released, Manoj Kumar made some comments in the media that upset Dilip Kumar. Manoj stated that what bothered Dilip Kumar the most was that Kranti was known as a Manoj Kumar film and not a Dilip Kumar film. Dilip Kumar refused to speak about the film in the media after it was declared a blockbuster. It was Dilip Kumar's first hit in 10 years. Manoj stated that all producers waited till Kranti was 3/4 th complete to sign Dilip. Subhash Ghai wanted Dilip for Vidhaata but needed to hear about Dilip's working style. Manoj went on to say Dilip was not saleable and the distributors did not want him . Kranti was sold because it was a Manoj Kumar film. Dilip read Manoj's comments and their once close association came to a close. When Manoj's father passed away in a accident, Dilip did not come by to visit Manoj.
