This film is actually based on the first two books of the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella, being The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Abroad. In the United States, the novels were published under the names Confessions of a Shopaholic (from which this film gets its title from) and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan. There are 10 books in the series total, and despite this film being a moderate financial success, no sequel plans were ever announced.
