Among the film's deleted scenes, there is one where Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) shows Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) proof that Norman Osborn was keeping Peter under surveillance, in case Peter's missing father would ever try to contact his son. There is another deleted scene called 'Peter Meets His Father', where Peter, while mourning for Gwen at her grave, is visited by a still-alive Richard Parker; he explains that he managed to survive by parachuting out of the crashing plane, and that he couldn't reach out to Peter while Osborn was still alive because he kept close watch on young Peter. For the scene, Garfield refused to rehearse beforehand or even see/speak to Campbell Scott, in order to generate a genuine emotional response when they first lay eyes on each other.
