At the beginning of seasons one through four, the series was set in Eastland Academy. However, seasons five and six were placed in Mrs. Garrett's gourmet food shop, Edna's Edibles. Seasons seven through nine were in the Over Our Heads store, built in the exact location of Edna's Edibles after that business burnt down, that the girls and Mrs. Garett, and later Beverly Ann, jointly owned. The last few episodes of season nine have Over Our Heads closing, and the last couple of shows move the action back to Eastland Academy, which Blair buys to keep the school from closing. The show was set to return for a tenth season in 1988, with Blair now owning Eastland and acting as the school's headmistress. However, Lisa Whelchel decided that season nine would be her last, and thus, the series ended.
