Woody Harrelson was extremely vocal about his role. As Carnage is Venom's most famous enemy, and he's a fan favorite too, but Harrelson did the best he could to not think about that, because he thought it would have psyched him out. What he did instead was focus his attention on what made the character so deranged in the first place. Harrelson dove into all of the Venom comic books to figure out, in his words, "what kind of nasty s*** happened in his childhood."
