America vs. Everywhere Else: In Europe, Asia, and The Netherlands, "Fame" was marketed as a drama with musical interludes. In the USA, it was marketed as a musical, with dramatic interludes. The film poster design for "Fame" was also very different outside of domestic territories; in France it prominently displayed Barry Miller onstage under a nightclub spotlight, whereas in America it prominently featured Irena Cara and the "Hot Lunch" musical number as it's main focus.
