Marlon Wayans was initially hesitant to accept the role of Tyrone, thinking the role to be stereotypical on paper. It was only after watching Pi greco - Il teorema del delirio (1998) that he decided he would do anything to work with Darren Aronofsky. He's since called working on this film with Aronofsky one of the best experiences of his career.
