The film is costume designer Catherine Martin's fifth collaboration with husband and director Baz Luhrmann. The first four films are Romeo + Giulietta di William Shakespeare (1996), Moulin Rouge! (2001), Australia (2008), and Il grande Gatsby (2013), respectively.
