The film was originally supposed to end with the Eternals having their memories wiped all over again and taken into the ship Domo to set course to another planet. However, this ending didn't resonate well within the test audience as they found it too 'bleak' and 'empty'. As a result, the current ending with Sersi, Kingo and Phastos being taken away by Arishem was added. Director Chloé Zhao preferred the original ending. However, this scene wasn't added in the Blu-ray featurettes.
