During the scene where Dr. Chen, explains her family's history, a photo shows two of her relatives kneeling down at an archeological site. The picture is labeled "Infant Island, 1961". Not only is this is an Easter egg to 1961's Mothra, it's also confirmation that Mothra's home exists in the MonsterVerse. Infant Island is one of Toho's most important original locations. It precedes Godzilla's home, Monster Island, by a few years. After Mothra, Infant Island was reused as a setting for several more movies, including Mothra vs. Godzilla, Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, and Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. This place was first shown in Mothra when scientists traveled there and came across the creature, the Twin Fairies, and a tribe that worshiped her. It was learned in the movie that Mothra is Infant Island's self-appointed guardian. Since the MonsterVerse's Mothra still has her Twin Fairies, it stands to reason that her connection to Infant Island is present as well. If she's its guardian, that could be why Dr. Chen's relatives were there in the first place. There's a chance that Infant Island could be more than just an Easter egg in future MonsterVerse movies. The credits included a photo of a giant egg and hinted that it belonged to Mothra. The newspaper clipping doesn't mention where the egg is, but it would make sense for Mothra to leave it on Infant Island. The egg belonging to Mothra is likely the case, since death and rebirth has been a big part of Mothra's stories for decades. To ensure that she's reborn later, Mothra usually does lay an egg after leaving her cocoon. This egg, which may be on Infant Island, could be a plot point in the future. The Mothra egg at the beginning of the movie was 10,0000 years old, so there's no telling how long it will take to hatch, but if Godzilla needs help in Godzilla vs. Kong, Mothra may return sooner rather than later.
