This is the first Illumination Entertainment sequel produced in 2.35:1, unlike the other sequels, which were produced in 1.85:1. Although, confusingly, some tv channels show a 1.85:1 cropped version, resulting in some obvious left and right frame loss on certain shots, such as the expanded family dinner shot, with both Dru and Gru on the edge of the frame.
