This is the third time that Brendan Fraser has appeared in the first movie of a franchise that introduced Dwayne Johnson in the sequel. The first time was in La mummia (1999) and La mummia - Il ritorno (2001). Fraser appeared in both as Rick O'Connell. The second is Viaggio al centro della Terra (2008) and Viaggio nell'isola misteriosa (2012), where Fraser did not appear in the latter. The G.I. Joe franchise marks the first time that Brendan didn't play a lead role in the first movie.
