The "push" shot of the camera passing over the series of tables and between the patrons in the night club was astonishing for the time and was a technical feat that contributed towards the film's Academy Award for Best Engineering Effects. It continued to inspire similar shots for generations, including (among many others) the restaurant shot in The Sixth Sense - Il sesto senso (1999).
