The original trilogy frame per second rate was 48 frames. In the UK, and certain other mostly former British Empire countries, including New Zealand, the old analogue broadcast television format PAL (phase alternate line) was 25 frames a second, although as it actually was 50 frames per second as it alternated the black and white shading and colour information. (The USA format NTSC was 30 frames/60). This creates the strange situation, where if the trilogy was played 2 frames per second faster than intended, then it would appear to look like a traditional television series shot on conventional video, without the 24 frame rate video effect.
