The only time on the show that one partner from each of the Vincent D' Onofrio/Kathryn Erbe and Jeff Goldblum and Julianne Nicholson would work together is during a late season episode when Goldblum and Erbe teamed up in an episode while Nicholson was pregnant. This may have been done, in case D'Onofrio wanted to leave the show with Goldblum being the lead with Erbe as his co-star, to see how they would work together as a team. It did work, however both D'Onofrio and Erbe would leave the show together with Goldblum taking over the lead with Nicholson also leaving and being replaced by Saffron Burrows.
