Before Doug Richardson made the final draft, Fred Dekker and Shane Black were offered drafts for the film, all of the drafts got rejected. Dekker's draft was subsequently made into the film Verdetto finale (1991), while Black's draft was made into L'ultimo boy scout - Missione: sopravvivere (1991), both of them were produced by Joel Silver.
